Vision & Mission

Department vision

To create graduates with outstanding foreign language skills that meet the standards of the workplace and will allow graduates to take full advantage of opportunities offered with the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).


• To produce graduates with outstanding skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

• To produce graduates of an excellent standard who are able to secure employment positions requiring the use of English and other western languages.

• To produce graduates who are aware of expanded opportunities with the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community and have the necessary confidence and skills to take full advantage of them.


Currents Students

The English Major

The Department of Western Languages offers a dual track curriculum for undergraduates majoring in English Language. These two tracks are:

1) English and Literature
2) Business English

Both tracks have the same core courses, but there are some differences in the requirements and elective courses. Students are requested to choose their track at the end of the first semester of their 2nd year.

The English Minor

The Department of Western Languages also offers English as a minor subject for the students from every faculty. Students, wishing to have the English language as their minor subject, are required a take an English Screening Test administered by the Department. The total credits required for the English minor are 18 credit hours. It takes 3 semesters for a student to complete both the required and elective courses.
